GOOGLE EARTH SIGHTS
Below is a collection of some of the sights I've researched on Google Earth.
Use the navigation icon to zoom in and out or pan. You can click and drag to pan around the map, too. Use the Map, Satellite and Hybrid buttons to change between map views. If by default, the image is the Map view, click the Satellite button to see aerial photographs of structures on the ground.

Acres
of Junk Vehicles in New Orleans
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the floodwaters destroyed thousands of vehicles. Officials moved all the cars to scrap yards in the south part of the city. Using the satellite view, pan around and look at the acres of abandoned vehicles, giant mounds of debris and drywall pulled from damaged buildings. A facility processes the scrap and hauls it to waiting barges on the river north of the scrap yards.

Meteor Crater in Arizona
It was a bad day when this crater appeared in a matter of seconds, nearly 50,000 years ago, after a 150-foot, iron meteor struck the ground in Arizona. Scientists believe the asteroid that created the crater originated in the asteroid belt between Earth and Mars. Many terrestrial collisions have occurred in the past, erosion, vegetation and plate tectonics have erased many of the visible scars of such collisions. Google Earth offers scientists a new tool to search for evidence of asteroid strikes. The Arizona strike is very young in geological terms, so the evidence is still well preserved.

Millions of Logs from 1980 Mount St. Helens Eruption Fill Spirit Lake
The eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980 sent a shock wave of rock and ash roaring over the landscape. The force of the blast stripped hundreds of square miles of timber from the surrounding hills and valleys depositing them in nearby Spirit Lake. The lake, itself transformed, moved as one end filled with the rock from the shattered side of the mountain. The wave settled into the remaining lakebed with millions of logs blanketing the surface.
