                      ABOUT

                      INTRODUCTION

                      H
                      ello,
Of course, by now, you’ve probably realized that I’m Ed Cavett.  I’m pleased to tell you about myself and the role art plays in my life.

Starting in my early childhood, as soon as I knew someone could want to be something, I wanted to be an artist.  I wrote on my walls, covered every sheet and scrap of paper with doodles and drawings, and never wasted a chance to express myself artistically.  Teachers appreciated my imagination, but complained that I shouldn’t fill my homework with doodles along the margins.  I felt that it was their loss.

Art was something that I was naturally aligned to do, yet, I’ve never taken a formal class involving it.  Before I was old enough to take those classes, I had already studied the subjects independently.  I felt that it would have been a waste and a bore.  I had other interests that included things at which I was less apt, so those occupied my academic pursuits.  I’ve formally studied computer programming, writing, math, business and e-business to hone those parts so I could use them to advance my artistic pursuits.

Here it is, nearly four decades later, and I’ve been fortunate enough to share the most notable things I’ve learned and created over the years.  For several years, now, I’ve offered my work to the online public for review and purchase, published articles that have reached people around the globe, and have contributed stunning photography to Google Earth.  I’ve exhibited my work at juried art venues and have organized successful venues exhibiting the art of more than a dozen artists.

My most notable works include landscape ink-etchings, Miura-Ori origami wall art, wire armatures and sculpted structures.  I also have some notable photographic works involving natural settings and urban structures.  My catalog of work is extensive and involves more than 1,500 works, including paintings, etchings, sculptures, digital renderings, graphics, computerized visualizations, lamp-work beads, jewelry and other bits of things too numerous to mention.
